Tourism will easily qualify as one of the least developed industries in West Bengal. but it looks as if it's set to change, thanks to a new tourism focus on one of the rarest eco-systems in the world the vast mangrove forest in the estuary of the river Ganga and Hoogly, commonly called Sunderbans in tribute to the trees that have trapped silt in their roots for thousands of years to form the area's islands and create the landscape. But the new focus involves a project that is bound to raise the hackles of environmentalists and political conservatives.
