Ground water in several parts of Delhi is contaminated with fluroide, nitrate and a number of heavy metals making it highly unfit for human consumption, a joint survey conducted by the Central Ground Water Board and the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has concluded. The report said : "There is an urgent need that water from all public water supply points and hand pumps be analaysed for fluoride and heavy metals like lead, zinc, chromium and be supplied for drinking purposes only if found suitable."
