Water is available in the traditional water spouts, wells and ponds in Lalitpur area following extensive implementation of rainwater collection and ground water recharge projects at different places of the district.
Water has started coming from the traditional water spouts and the wells and ponds have been recharged at Nirmal Basti, Deepawali Marga and Sinchahity areas at Ward No. 15 of Lalitpur Sub-Metropolis. Before this, the water spouts, wells and ponds in these areas had gone dry.
President of the Urban Environment Management Society (UEMS), Prem Singh Maharjan, said this has been possible through recharging of the groundwater by collecting the rainwater.
Maharjan says the water scarcity in Kathmandu Valley could be reduced to a great extent through rain water harvesting and ground water recharging.
Rain water collection and ground water recharging plants have been installed at more than 120 places of Lalitpur Sub-metropolis. RSS
