The Delhi fire services (DFS) has prepared a set of guidelines to lower the risk of fire in low-rise buildings, especially in market places across the capital. The guidelines have been submitted to the Delhi government and will be made "mandatory" soon.Taking into account fires in Delhi and in the other cities of the country, the DFS has prepared specific guidelines to prevent such an occurrence in market places, schools and in other areas and buildings where there is an abundance of low-rise constructions. "On an average, 50 to 60 fires break out in the city daily, but only the big ones get reported," said chief fire officer R.C. Sharma.
