AHMEDABAD: As part of the month-long Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan launched on Gujarat’s Foundation Day on Tuesday, chief minister Vijay Rupani has said the government plans to de-silt or dig up 11,000-lakh cubic feet earth from 13,000-odd ponds, check dams and reservoirs in the state before monsoon. This includes deepening of 138 ponds and 188 watershed works in Gandhinagar district alone.
Rupani urged the villagers to join the drive to create additional water storing capacity and rejuvenate rivers and rivulets, in addition to drip irrigation and other ongoing projects.
