AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Vidyapith plans to establish an energy park on its campus which will showcase different models of non-conventional energy used in daily life. The energy park will be a permanent establishment where people will guide visitors on different models and their uses. "The energy park will be operational from October 15. We already have on display one natural water cooler at the site and other alternate energy models like solar-operated cooker, dryer, street lights, cycle compressor ,cycle juicer, cycle water pump, cycle sound system among others,'' said Rajendra Khimani , registrar, Gujarat Vidyapith. According to Khimani the idea behind the energy park is that students and visitors will get an idea about conserving energy and different models of non-conventional energy. We hope the energy park will generate awareness among people. "The energy park will be totally interactive . We have made an arrangement in which visitors can practically see the utility of the models. How each model works, how much energy it can save and its cost will be displayed and guide will be present to interact with visitors,'' says Dharmendra Kadia, head of department, University Science Instrumentation Centre, Gujarat Vidyapith. "We want to teach our students about self reliance in different areas in daily life like water, energy, etc. We are already self reliant in issues of water. Now it's solar lights. We currently have five solar street lights on campus but we will add another 20 solar street lights within two days. Over a period of time the campus itself will become a energy Apark," says Khimani.
