Guwahati gets Rs 3,100cr aid from Centre

The Union urban development ministry has approved the Guwahati city, development plan worth Rs 3,100 crores, under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission. Disclosing this to reporters, Assam development minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Assam was the first state in country to get their ambitious development project approved. The urban development ministry has selected 63 cities of the country to be given funds for proposed renewal missions. He said: "The city development plan has been prepared by a joint venture company called, Infrastructure Development Corporation of Assam Ltd, which has been formed by the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) in collaboration with Mumbai-based Infrastructure Leasing and Finance Services Ltd."
