Haldar’s Green Transport Plan bags UN environment prize

A team of students led by Pannu Haldar from Bilaspur glorified the name of nation as their “Sustainable Green Transport Plan” won the first prize at the international competition hosted by UN Decades at Paris, France on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the United Nation Environment Programme.
Under this competition, UN Decades had invited ideas and concepts to tackle the prevailing environmental problems in present scenario from youth and teachers of various nations.
A team from Bilaspur comprising teacher from Bharat Mata English School Panu Haldar along with two students of Guru Ghasidas University namely Disha Raichura and Fergus Mark Anthony represented India.
They gave presentation on their creative concept of ‘Green Transport’ for environment conservation , which was lauded not only by the judges but the contestants from other countries also appreciated the same, informed Panu Haldar in a Press Conference on here Monday.
In this competition organised at Science city Paris, teams from India, Austria, Bulgaria, France, Poland, Portugal, Swiss, Croatia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Morocco, Estonia and Turkey had participated.
About the concept Panu Haldar informed that under the ‘Green Transport Plan’ their team had suggested systematic way of reducing traffic pressure near particular school or at squares by controlling time gap. This innovative traffic plant for sustainable future can not only reduce carbon foot prints and noise pollution by 70-80 per cent due to the traffic jam but also control the increasing number of accidents, informed Panu Haldar, based on the findings of the experimental implementation of plan near Bharat Mata English School.
Success of this plan has made the conceptualising team a part of international forum 2012, under which they will promote their concept across the world with the help of the UN.
