About 4,000 people, alleging they had been evacuated from Haldia to facilitate the building of the port, demonstrated for seven hours in front of the office of the Calcutta Port Trust's deputy chairman (Haldia), today. The demonstrators, under the banner of Haldia Udbastu Kshatigrasta Sangram Samiti, demanded rehabilitation for about 1,500 people, who lost their land to make way for CPT projects 30 years ago.
