In one of the biggest water schemes in the country, the Haryana government has announced individual tap water connection for every household in both rural and urban areas in the state. The scheme is going to cost the state government more than Rs 370 cr. This is considered to be one of the most ambitious schemes which will provide direct water supply water to every household in the state. "We have sufficient water supply to provide to all rural and urban households,' Randeep Singh Surjewala, Haryana's minister for public health, transport and civil aviation and parliamentary affairs, told reporters here.
The scheme would be implemented in two stages. In the first go, households of Schedule Castes will be covered wherein the state government will bear all expenses of providing individual tap water connection. The others will be covered in the second stage.
