Haryana plans cemented roads for all villages

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has earmarked Rs.200 crore for construction of cemented streets in all the villages of the State during 2008-09. An official spokesman said here on Tuesday that the Bhupinder Singh Hooda Government was committed to raise the living standard of the villagers by providing them all modern facilities to check their migration to cities. He disclosed that on an average Rs.10 lakh would be spent on the construction of cemented streets in each village. A Model Village scheme is also being implemented and 98 villages have already been declared Model Villages in which all basic facilities like streets and drainage system would be provided. Out of these, 53 villages are being developed by the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board and the rest by the Development and Panchayat Department, he added. All the Deputy Commissioners and heads of departments have been directed to implement the scheme speedily and also prepare development plans for each model village. The Additional Deputy Commissioners have been designated Nodal Officers for this purpose. The State Government has also decided to provide a permanent number to each house in the villages on the pattern of urban areas. Number plates would be put up on each rural house. With this, it would be easy for the villagers to get loans against their houses and it would also facilitate the transfer of rural property, he added. The Government has also introduced a new scheme,
