Haryana to spend 98 crore on roads

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government is going to spend Rs.98.81crore on repair and reconstruction of roads in Gurgaon. Out of this, Rs.78.84 crore will be spent by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and Rs.19 crore by the Municipal Corporation, Haryana Chief Secretary Dharamvir announced on Monday. Reviewing various development works in Gurgaon, Mr. Dharamvir directed the officers to fix a time-frame for each and every work and bring transparency to the implementation. He said the schedule of works should be put on the website for public knowledge so that people could offer their suggestions too. He also asked all the Secretaries of the executing departments to put all tenders for works costing above Rs.2.5 crore on the website with a standardised application form so that the applicant can apply easily by downloading it from the website. He also ordered the construction agencies to maintain the roads up to five years after construction. He also reviewed the status of repair work on all major roads which were damaged due to rains. HUDA Chief Administrator T. C. Gupta said that damaged roads in all the HUDA sectors on the eastern side of the national highway had been identified and tenders for repair would be floated soon. Municipal Commissioner Rajeev Sharma asserted that all roads within the corporation limit would be repaired by March 31, 2009.
