The Delhi High Court ordered the MCD to close down all banquet halls functioning in the Capital's residential areas. "Running of banquet halls are a perennial source of nuisance for residents, besides causing traffic congestion in the city, and they should go forthwith,' a Division Bench of Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Rekha Sharma ruled. The court clarified that Thursday's Supreme Court order on dismantling commercial structures in residential areas would apply to banquet halls as well. The directions were given while dealing with a PIL complaining about the functioning of commercial farmhouses in the city.
