The Karnataka High Court quashed the notifications issued by Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) acquiring 2,750 acres of land for formation of Arkavathi layout and held that the BDA has no jurisdiction to take up developmental schemes in Bangalore metropolitan area. With this, the formation of Arkavathi layout has come to a standstill as the court has made it clear that its verdict will also apply to all land-owners, even those who have not approached the High Court, under the proposed layout.
