HC rap over water project delay

Ranchi, March 31: Jharkhand High Court today directed the state government and Nagarjuna Constructions, a private company, to furnish a status report on laying of pipelines in Giridih for supply of drinking water.
The division bench, comprising Chief Justice Gyan Sudha Misra and Justice R.R. Prasad, also ordered the state to explain why it has paid Rs 16 crores to the company before completion of the project under Giridih Urban Water Supply Scheme.
Further, it asked Nagarjuna Constructions to show cause why its bank account should not be attached at the direction of the court as it has failed to complete the project on time. The case will be again taken up on April 20.
