A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court today refused to vary its June 24 order not to permit any person evicted from Mathikettan Shola to reoccupy any of the land or to take agricultural products like cardamom. Instead, the court relegated the claimants to civil courts. The order was passed on a writ petition filed by the Nature Lover's Movement, Thiruvamkulam, seeking to evict encroachers in three thousand hectares of natural, evergreen shola forests at Mathikettan which, according to the evicted person form part of the Cardamom Hill Reserve falling in Devikulam range in Munnar forest division.
