The Delhi High Court has imposed a stay order till on the campaign by the city authorities to simultaneously evict and relocate encroachers from Yamuna Pushta, an illegal hutment colony along the river in the Capital. The MCD tried to demolish the illegal structures last month, but it could not do so due to the opposition of the residents and local politicians. Mr Justice Vikramajit Sen put off the drive which was to start from today till February 9, by when the Delhi Government and the Delhi Development Authority would have to produce photographic evidence that the basic amenities have been provided at the proposed resettlement sites.
