Apparently with an eye on municipal polls to be held early next year, the city government has urged the Delhi High Court to allow it to provide sewerage facilities in unauthorised colonies here. The government, in an affidavit filed in the High Court on December 11 in a case relating to rainwater harvesting system here, has sought permission to allow Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to provide sewerage facilities in unauthorised slums where over 30 lakh of city's 1.4 crore population live in unhygienic conditions.
