Bhubaneswar: Intense heat wave conditions made a comeback in the State with 14 places recording temperature above 40 degree Celsius on Wednesday. Capital city Bhubaneswar emerged as the hottest place in the State on Wednesday with the highest temperature of 44 degree Celsius. The oppressive heat wave threw normal life out of gear. Temperature went up to 40 degrees and above in Baleswar (41.2), Chandbali (43), Angul (42.7), Baripada (41.8), Jharsuguda (42.6), Sambalpur (42.9), Sundargarh (41), Hirakud (41.7), Talcher (42.2), Bhawanipatna (40.2), Bolangir (42), Titlagarh (41) and Dhenkanal (40.7). India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhubaneswar Director Sarat Chandra Sahu said the severe heat wave condition would prevail across the State for the next two days due to flow of north-westerly dry and hot wind. Sahu, however, said the temperature will gradually come down from June 12 night. The monsoon is likely to hit Odisha between June 13 and 15.
