Heavy rain in J&K, 6 killed in house collapse

Due to heavy rain in the region, six people were killed in two separate incidents of house collapse in Doda district and Bishnah. A policeman was also washed away in flash floods in river Ujh in Kathua district.
Constable Patdev Singh was crossing the river when he got caught in flash floods triggered by heavy rain.
Nearly 16 houses were damaged as lightning struck in Rehambal area in Udhampur district on Sunday night. No casualty was reported.
Five of a family were buried alive when a huge boulder from an adjoining hill fell on the roof of their house in Kastigarh area of Doda district, on Monday. Three members of the family were also injured and the condition of one of them was stated to be serious.
The deceased have been identified as Lutuf Ullah, 65, his wife Shareefa Begum, 60, his married daughter Shamshada Begum, 30, another daughter Fatima Bano, 12, and his one-and-a-half year old granddaughter Shaniya.
In another incident, a woman was killed and her husband injured in house collapse in Bishnah area near Jammu. Identifying the deceased as Jitto Devi, the police said that her husband Rattan Lal had been hospitalised.
