The preservation and commmercial production of herbs has been started in Chitwan district for the first time in Nepal by constructing herbs orchards and exihibition plots. Although Chitwan, which is one of the richest districts for bio-diversity, has a vegetation lavish with hundreds of species of herbs of medical, religious and historical importance, many of them are in the verge of extinction due to the rampant deforestation and unmanaged collection of herbs, says ranger of Kerak Range Post, Arun Kumar Gupta.
