Hesco to set up 16 new grid stations in Sindh

The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) is planning to establish 16 new grids stations in different parts of Sindh so as to ensure uninterrupted power supply to consumers, said the Chief Executive Officer of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company, Guftar Anjum.
Giving details of the development projects being executed in different parts of Sindh, he said that 23 grid stations of 66 kv are being upgraded to 132 kv, and extension of 20 existing grid stations will also be carried out during the next few months. He said that the Federal Government is said to have already released a grant of Rs 1500 million, under PSDP, for completion of these projects.
He said that 66 kv Badin grid station was recently upgraded with installation of an additional transformer of 10/13 MVA at a cost of Rs 40 million. He said that as per instructions of National Assembly Speaker Fahimda Mirza, Hesco has prepared PC-1 for establishment of four new grid stations, in Golarchi, Lakhi, Padidan and Garhi Yasin, upgrading of 17 grid stations and installation of 465 km new high tension transmission line at a cost of Rs 472.1 million.
Under the project, 132 kv grid station would be established in Golarchi, while Badin, Talhar and Matli grid stations will be upgraded with installation of 136 km high tension transmission line for which efforts are being made to acquire loan of Rs 3 billion from World Bank and Rs 3.5 billion from Asian Development Bank.
During the current financial year, he said, new high power transformers have been installed in 132 kv Ghotki, Pannu Aqil, Nawabshah, Daur and Badin grid stations, while 110 projects of installation of high transmission and low transmission lines have been completed.
Installation of 600 new distribution transformers and 250 km lines of 11 kv and 35 km of 440 volts lines were said to have also been completed of which, 100 transformers were installed in Badin and Tando Muhammad Khan districts.
