Hi-tech dairies to promote milk production in Haryana

In order to enhance milk production, the state is aiming to set up hi-tech diaries. The Centre has increased the financial allocation to the state for the purpose. The provision for the self-finance schemes has also been revised with the Government proposing Rs 600 lakh for its implementation. Milk production in the state is 54.70 lakh metric tonnes out of which 80 per cent is contributed by buffaloes. The state is second to Punjab with 640 grams per head per day. The number of buffaloes in the state has also increased to 60 lakh and is increasing at the rate of three per cent annually.
