To fill its empty coffers, the BJP-HVC coalition government in Himachal Pradesh has begun sharpening the axe to take on protected green wealth in the state. Highly-placed sources told The Indian Express that the Forest Department had finalised a plan to seek the Centre's nod on resuming hitherto banned fellings. The plan, submitted to the state government, awaits Cabinet assent before it is forwarded to the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests.
