Honduran legislators on Tuesday urged the deployment of new army troops to protect the fragile Platano River Biosphere and other regions from illegal logging. The biosphere, a swath of forest in eastern Honduras that has been under U.N. conservation funding since 1971, has been besieged by illicit logging, burning and cutting.
