Amid furor in the House over plans to set up waste treatment plant at Bainguinim, the Government today decided to appoint a House committee, which will identify a site for disposal of garbage collected from the municipal limits of Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP). Replying to Calling Attention Motion moved by the Cumbharjua MLA Pandurang Madkaikar, Chief Minister Digamabar Kamat expressed serious concerns over the garbage issue and said the Government would do its best to resolve it. On suggestions from the MLAs, Kamat agreed to set up a House committee, represented by MLAs from all parties, to identify the site for garbage disposal. The committee will decide on the fate of Bainguinim site and so also identify an alternative site in case it decides to scrap Bainguinim, he said.
