With Delhi being declared as one of the most polluted city in the world, the new government is gearing up to put a stop to the fast depleting forest cover. If the data on tree plantations gathered over the past few years is to be believed, Delhi should have been a deep forest by now. However, only 26 sq km remains under forest cover. Sixteen lakh trees were to be planted, and 12 lakh seedlings distributed from 1994 to 1998 .
