Close on the heels of Delhi government's efforts to introduce water harvesting and water management measures in the city, University Grants Commission (UGC) is planning to introduce courses on the subject in universities. UGC, after a go ahead from commission members, plans to set up an expert committee to prepare the model syllabus for starting under-graduate and post-graduate courses in water harvesting and water management. The universities will then be invited to take up the course.In Delhi, the government has been encouraging water harvesting making it mandatory for all new buildings on plots of 100 square metres and above to have water harvesting structures. And building with a minimum discharge of 10,000 litres and above per day have to incorporate waste water recycling system.
