Himachal Pradesh is way ahead of other northern Indian states in terms of providing education to its schoolgoing children, especially the girl child. According to UNICEF sources Himachal Pradesh fares better than other north Indian states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan in terms of the overall literacy rate, as also the rate for women.
