The Indian Air Force has decided to study ways and means to reduce emission of harmful gases from its aircraft so as to prevent depletion of the ozone layer. Speaking on the sidelines of a workshop organised by the IAF in collaboration with the environment ministry, IAF sources said that aspects such as fire extinguisher systems and air-conditioning of aircraft would be focused on to eliminate emission of harmful gases and concentrate on eco-friendly alternatives. In February, India had decided to carry out a detailed aviation emission study in its civil aviation sector.
