ICICI funds WHI rural water plan

In what could be the beginning of rural population getting clean and safe water without the efforts of the government, WaterHealth International Inc. (WHI), a company focused on providing clean and safe drinking water in rural areas through commercially viable facilities but at a price affordable even by the poorest sections of the population, has obtained funding commitment from ICICI Bank. Initially ICICI Bank would lend Rs 40 million to the Indian subsidiary, WaterHealth India Pvt Ltd. This amount is expected to benefit about 100 villages or an aggregate of 2.5 lakh people in Andhra Pradesh, from safe drinking water made available at less than 10 paise per litre.
