As the country saw drought-like situation in most regions and recorded 22 per cent less than normal rainfall last year, city-based Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) under the India Meteorological Department has charted out its cloud seeding programme for the rain shadow regions in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka for this year. With the cloud seeing to begin in July, IITM has floated tenders for hiring two aircraft and a radar, and the last date for bidding is March 22.
