The Arunachal Pradesh Government has expressed concern over illegal felling of trees especially in forest areas bordering Assam and Nagaland. State Environment and Forest Minster Nabam Tuki said despite the State's efforts, it was difficult to prevent the illegal felling involving anti-socials, with the meager resources available. Mr. Tuki informed that revenue worth more than Rs 200 crore has been lost by Arunachal Pradesh since the ban on timber operation. The State should be adequately compensated for the loss and for maintaining the large forest cover.
