Bangalore, DHNS: The State Forest Department has been a mute spectator to the gross violation of Wildlife Protection Act 1972 as mechanised earthmoving equipment are being moved into the State protected areas and tiger reserves. The Wildlife First (WLF), which found this violation in Nagarhole National Park, has urged the department to act against violators. "If such machinery are brought into the protected areas, it has to be only after obtaining a written permission from Chief Wildlife warden, who can permit this after approval from the National Board for Wildlife, the Central Empowered Committee and the Supreme Court of India,' said Praveen Bhargav,WLF trustee. The WLF has also urged the department to issue orders to all Field Directors,Conservators, Deputy Conservators of Forests in charge of National Parks, Sanctuaries and Tiger Reserves to strictly enforce the entry prohibition as per the Supreme Court order.
