The Karnataka Government's proposal to improve 2.322 slums in 21 major cities and towns of the State is most welcome. The Government also plans to spend Rs 100 crore this year on infrastructural facilities in slums. According to Housing Minister Qamarul Islam, the Government will seek Rs 70 crore financial assistance from HUDCO for taking up upgradation facilities in 2,322 slums besides taking up training progremmes (Editorial).
