In capital Ranchi in Jharkhand, no one had imagined that water scarcity would force the parents to extend the marriage of their daughters, and wives will pack off, leaving their husbands to fend themselves. Besides wives packing off, there are scores of example where parents extended the date of marriage in view of the scarcity. Even Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) cannot provide enough water to fulfill the needs of the marriage ceremony.
