India can halve poverty by 2015

World Bank report : The World Bank expects India to halve its poverty and achieve universal primary education by 2015, but gender equality will prove a tough challenge as will environmental conservation, according to John Williamson a senior World Bank official speaking in context of the latest World Development Indicators (WDI) report released. The WDI report maintains that people in developing countries are healthier, better fed and more educated than ever before, but that this progress is uneven.
