India will explore the possibility of importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Australia, a ministry of external affairs spokesman said. "We expect to source LNG from Australia in the near future," the spokesman on Friday told a press conference ahead of minister of external affairs Pranab Mukherjee's visit down under. India was looking to import LNG worth $22 billion over 25 years from Iran but the negotiation is stuck on the issue of revision of price and certain legalities.Traditionally Australia has been primary source of import of coking coal for India. The spokesman said energy security including renewable sources of energy will be on the agenda of Mr Mukherjee's talks with his Australian counterpart, Stephen Smith. The attacks on the Indian community in Australia might come up for discussion, the spokesman added. On the eve of his departure for Australia, Mr Pranab Mukherjee on Friday interacted with the members of the parliamentary consultative committee on external affairs. India's ties with Latin America was the agenda.
