The World Commission on Dams (WCD) has clarified its visit to Delhi and Bhopal later this month was planned in "full consultation" with Indian authorities. In a press note yesterday,WCD Secretary-General Achim Steiner said the Commission had obtained approval from the Indian High Commissioner in South Africa, the Planning Commission and the Madhya Pradesh Government.The field visit to the Narmada Valley was cancelled following objections by the Gujarat Government, although the Madhya Pradesh Government had welcomed it.
