India redoubles efforts to save ozone layer

A bold new initiative, aimed at accelerating the phase out of ozone damaging chemicals across India, was launched in Delhi today by the Indian Government and the United Nations Environment Programme.According to a UNEP press release, under the initiative of four big manufacturers of cholofluorocarbons(CFCs), chemicals used in fridges, air-conditioning units and aerosols which have been found to damage the earth's protective shield are pledging to crack down on "rouge emissions' by introducing new, cleaner production technologies.
