India and China are among the 31 countries where people do not have adequate access to safe drinking water, a major cause of waterborne diseases, according to a report. The report 'Safe drinking water', brought out by the Third World Academy of Sciences, says the people inmost parts of Asia and Africa do not have access to safe drinking water and even in relatively advanced countries such as India safe drinking water is not readily available, particularly in rural areas.
