India to join convention on child labour

India will be among 174 International Labour Organisation (ILO) member states aiming to adopt an international convention for an immediate universal ban on the worst forms of child labour including child pornography at the ILO's 87th session in Geneva next month (June 1 to June 17). According to ILO estimates, some 250 million child labourers in thr 5-14 age group in developing countries . About half of them are full-time employees, while the rest combine work and schooling. As many as 68 per cent of these children are engaged in hazardous activities.
