India to switch to eco-friendly fuels by Oct

A multibillion-rupee Indian project to switch to eco-friendly fuels is near completion, and greener fuel will be available at retail outlets by October 1, a senior government adviser said on Monday. Mr K P Shahi, adviser to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said Rs 57 billion rupees ($1.34 billion) had been spent to reduce the sulphur content in diesel to 0.25 percent by weight from 1.0 percent.
