India and the US have signed an accord whereby around 40 Indian industrial units using carbon tetra-chloride will receive grant-in-aid from the Montreal Protocol Fund. The Fund is a multilateral agency which provides aid to industries to cover the incremental cost for phaseout of ozone depleting substances (ODSs) under the protocol's time-frame.The accord was signed after tough negotiations at the recently concluded Montreal Protocol's conference of parties at Cairo.
