Indo-Nepal team for road construction

A six-member joint team of Indian and Nepali officials was on Saturday constituted to look into encroachment of land to be used for construction of a new road on Indo-Nepal border. The joint team would tour the border area on April 24 to review encroachments in the land in Bihar’s Kisanganj district on which the road is to be built, official sources said. A total of 726km road would be constructed on the Indo-Nepal border and out of this 98km would be in Kisanganj. The decision to set up the committee was taken at a meeting of officials of Kisanganj with Nepali officials from Jhapa, the sources said. Kisanganj District Magistrate Aditya Kumar Das headed the team from the Indian side, while Nepal’s officials team was led by Jhapa district head Narendra Raj Sharma. The officials also discussed issues related to circulation of fake currency. (PTI)
