Indonesia to change mining royalties

Indonesian officials said they would change mining royalties and push for more payments directly to local governments to assuage growing popular resentment against foreign mining companies. Rozik soetjipto, director general for mining at the Ministry for Energy and Mining, said royalties would remian competitive with other countries, but 80 per cent would need to be paid directly to provincial and district governments.
