Industrial pollution haunts Kolar

Living in a world without plastic now seems almost impossible - but the material largely contributes to destroying the environment. Even the minutest plastic particle can be dangerous, and can lead to environmental pollution. This can be seen in Tamaka, the industrial area on the outskirts of Kolar. The area is home to at least eight plastic industries, which function from here. As a result, the place is choc-a-block with the waste materials discarded from these factories. The factories, built on an extension of the Kolaramma lake, are located on the road that connects Kolar city with National Highway 4, and the discarded material poses hazards to the commuters. Though the factories are discarding the waste material beyond their limit, the environment department, TMC and other authorities have turned a blind eye to the situation - and this has been a boon to the plastic factories.
