Nellore, Dec. 13: Though it is six-years since the foundation stone was laid for the much publicised International Leather Park (ILP) near Krishnapatnam port, it has remained a non-starter even as a host of other projects launched a few years ago are getting ready for inauguration. This park was jointly promoted by government agencies, Lidcap and APIIC and the Union government had earmarked Rs 29 crore for buildings for the nearly Rs 200 crore project, the first of its kind, close to the coast in the country. Even though it is a stakeholder in the project, the APIIC provided only 267 acres out of 420 acres sought by the union government for the project, though it gave thousands of acres to private producers in the same area.
