Invoking the divine to save forests

At a time when the burgeoning population has effectively reduced our forests into concrete jungles, it makes news that a piece of land is being brought under the forest area for conservation. About 450 acres, which presently falls under the revenue department being taken over by the forest department being taken over by the forest department being taken over by the forest department here. And efforts are on to declare the area as 'Devarakadu' thereby putting an end to the illegal felling of trees. This forest area is situated in Hosagund village of Sagar taluk in Shimoga district. Hosagund forest can become an ideal place for ecological and taxonomical studies, says noted environmentalist Prof Keshava Korse.
