For development of wastelands under Integrated Wastelands Development Project, the Central Soil and Water Conservation Research and Training Institute (CSWCRTI), Udhagamandalam, has taken up the Salaiyur Watershed Development in Annur block of Coimbatore district as a model watershed. Located at about 18 km off Mettupalayam, the Salaiyur watershed is characterised by a vast stretch of undulating to mederately slopping lands with hilly patches. Spread over 513 hectares, the watershed comprises the villagers of OK Palayam, Kurumbapalayam and Salaiyur.
